Conquering Lang Bian mountain, Dalat city, Vietnam

Standing in downtown Da Lat on clear days visitors can see the Lang Bian mountain range with its highest peak being at a latitude of 2,169m above sea level. Situated about 12km north of Da Lat City, Lang Bian is one of the three highest mountains on Lam Vien plateau, Da Lat.

With its miraculous beauty and wild features, every year Lang Bian mountain, which was named after Lang and his lover Bian in the past, attracts a large numbers of visitors, especially photographers who come to capture the second-to-non fairyland scenery.

It is interesting to conquer the two peaks of Lang Bian. For the 1,950m peak, visitors can follow a trek in the forests or take a tour organised by Dalattourist Company which uses a specialised vehicle to transport them to the peak where they can contemplate Dian Kia Lake with its clear water lying amidst the vast pine forests below. To reach the 2,169m peak visitors follow the same route as to the 1,950m peak, but when they are near the top, they veer to the right and walk through a primeval forest for two hours to reach the second peak. This is really a challenge to the visitor’s health and bravery.

Leading our team were a group of professional climbers from Dalattourist Company, some of whom are K’ho ethnic people who live in the hamlets at the foot of Lang Bian Mountain. They carried our belongings and photographic equipment while we trekked with a stick, carrying some drinking water, medicines and small camera. We had to pass over many high slopes and some age-old trees lying across the path. Sometimes there was heavy rain that caused rushing streams to develop, causing severe dangers. We had to cling to the life-lines tied to big trees and made utmost effort to climb with the assistance of the professionals. About 100m from the top of the mountain a patch of blue sky appeared. Seen from the top, Da Lat City looks magnificent in the thin mist. It was past 5pm but the weather was still scorching.

While the photographers packed up their tools after capturing the image of the sunset, a gust of cool air blew past us. In an instant the temperature fell several degrees and we had to stay inside the tents. Night fell over the camp fire. The locals treated us with dishes of the mountainous area. We were told about the legend of Lang Bian- a tale about an immortal love between Lang and Bian who overcame a severe dispute which had existed for a long time between the Lach and Chil tribes.

At night it became piercingly cold. The wind was so strong that it was pulling at our tents, seemingly to try to throw everything into the air. In a half awaken state we spotted a “sea of clouds” around the peak of the mountain. At sun rise the clouds were covered with a radiant yellow colour. It was an opportune time for the photographers to create their masterpieces.

With an ecological system of rare and precious flora and fauna, Lang Bian has been protected and preserved to become a natural eco-tourist site of a high land.

Your Travel Guide to Hotels in Paris

Ok so you are travelling to Paris, you will probably arrive via train or plane and then either use the underground or get a taxi to their desired hotel, but if you are thinking about arriving by car, then do bear in mind that parking is a major problem and there are actually very few hotels that do have their own car parking area.

Paris is probably one of the most famous cities in the world and has over 30 million visitors every year just wishing to experience this diverse city, but for obvious reasons, anyone traveling to Paris will need to think about some form of accommodation and there are thousands of hotels to choose from.

As with any city, there are the very basic hotels, then you get the ones rated from 1 Star hotels

up to the exceedingly luxurious 5 Star hotels, yet incredibly, there are actually more 3 Star hotels in Paris than any other type.

But please bear in mind that in some of the basic hotels they do not have their own bathrooms and some have no washing or toilet facilities within a room at all, and therefore these are shared between several rooms.

Plus Paris is renowned for having smaller hotel rooms than those you would find in places like the UK and especially America where space is often considered a priority, and therefore many budget hotels will often have quite small rooms.

Now when it comes to traveling to Paris, most people will arrive via train or plane and then either use the underground or get a taxi to their desired hotel, but if you are thinking about arriving by car, then bear in mind that parking is a major problem and there are actually very few hotels in Paris that do have their own car parking area. Yet if you are driving into Paris, there are some hotels that do offer preferential rates for public car parks located close by and these can range in price from 20 Euros upwards per day.

Another point you may not have thought about, is that in Europe it is rare to get facilities for making a cup of tea or coffee in your room, so do not be disappointed if you do not have a kettle, etc, but the hotels that do provide this service usually make a point of saying so.

Also, most hotels in Paris do not quote a price with breakfast included as this is usually an optional extra charged per person, but some basic hotels and one star hotels do not serve any breakfast.

Many hotels state a Continental Breakfast, which usually consists of things such as cereals, rolls, croissants, jams, fruit juice and coffee, although some will provide a basic buffet breakfast. It is not usually until you get up to 3 star hotels and 4 star hotels in Paris that they are likely to provide a fuller buffet style breakfast as well as a Continental style breakfast option, yet luxury hotels tend to have a variety of different types of breakfast to suit International tastes.

Paris is an animal friendly city with lots of hotels allowing you to bring your dog with you, although there is often an additional charge for this, plus lots are now catering more for families. So rather than requesting an extra bed within a room you have a great choice of hotels that have triple rooms or quadruple rooms available, which does mean more space to move around!

Being a city renowned for its history, there are numerous hotels that are located within very old buildings and have lots of character, yet many have been modernised to include facilities such as satellite or cable TV and a lift for those of us that are less able or just too lazy to carry the luggage up the stairs!

Visiting Paris on business is also easier now as many Paris hotels have internet access or WiFi available not just in common areas, but also within the rooms, yet some do charge for their use, so it would be wise to check prior to booking if you wish to take your laptop with you.

And the last thing we feel you need to consider when booking a hotel, is where it is located. Obviously some areas are more costly than others, like being near to most famous Paris monument, the Eiffel Tower but if you are willing to be a little further out like in the business districtBusiness Management Articles, then you can get a far better deal on the same quality hotel.

How To Choose The Right Vacation Destination

You vacation should always be memorable, and for the right reasons. Knowing what to research and where to look for the information you need, can make your time away so much more rewarding for your and for all who accompany you.

Choosing the right holiday destination, can make the difference between having a good time and having a great vacation. It all comes down to knowing what you like, what those accompanying you like and doing your research before booking. I'm sure (like myself); you have looked at pictures in travel brochures depicting sun-drenched beaches met by beautiful glistening clear blue seas and cloudless skies. Picturesque indeed! Such a place may still be beautiful even if you like riding of-road motor cycles through rough terrain, way off the well beaten track, but for how long? How long will it be before your longing to feel the scraping of branches across your arms as you skid beneath overhanging branches kicking up clouds of dust from the dry track, gets the better of you and you start verbalising your frustration "Oh no, not another beautiful beach!"

Countries, areas, places are often frequented for quite specific reasons. It's not uncommon for a location to be visited by totally different types of people at specific times of the year. Nature lovers my like to visit a place in spring when the plants begin to bud and migratory birds return to begin constructing and feathering new nests and the air is filled with the excitement and optimism that this special season garners so ceremoniously. The same location may a haven for the ski slope worshipers who flock there en-mass in winter to satisfy their desire to feel the crunching of freshly fallen snow beneath there polished skis and to hear the sound of a cool wind whizzing past their darkened visors. Also, I am told that part of the appeal of this pursuit, is experiencing the camaraderie of being a part of select community of similarly impassioned enthusiasts.

Fast forward to mid summer and the same location is teaming with all manner of adventurous thrill seeker. You may wish to sign up for a day of rock climbing or hand gliding. Maybe it's the perfect day for a hot air balloon ride so one can fully grasp magnitude of the landscape in a way that you couldn't do by land. Or what about a SCUBA dive to capture the true natural beauty of a coral reef or a swim with dolphins. But what if all you want to do is relax in peaceful surroundings, perhaps in a place of serene unadulterated natural, beauty where you can marvel with like-minded people. Or you might have an interest in architecture and wish to visit places of historical importance or travel to an ancient ruin, where you can attempt to experience the lifestyle of a past civilisation.

Having selfishly considered your likes and dislikes, let throw some children into the equation. Is your idyllic location child friendly? Are there activities available to keep them occupied and entertained (after all it's their holiday too), is there a crèche and play area for very small children, and are there localised facilities for feeding and changing babies.

You see, when planning your holiday, there are many factors to decide upon. However, in the information age that we all now inhabit, finding information on an intended destination is not difficult. Most large establishments will have a website or some form of information available online. You can always email any questions you may have regarding aspects of accommodation food hotel facilities etc and request promotional brochures. You can research the area online for historical, geographic and demographic information. Often you will find reports and reviews on specific regions. If you're planning to participate in many activities, then it may prove prudent to choose a location where there is an abundance of such activities. That way the presence of much competition, may help to keep prices down or even give you some bargaining power. Make sure that everyone has their say in the final choice to insure that all requirements are met (or at least to some extent) so that you all have something to look forward to. But most of all make sure you have some fun and be sure to factor in some rest timeFree Articles, or you may return from your vacation in desperate need of a vacation...

The main point is; don't leave the success of your annual break to chance. Grab the reigns and make it successful by design.

Holiday in France? - Here are 10 tips for Visitors

France is a country of warm, friendly and welcoming people where village life goes on much as it has done for decades. France is also a landscape of incomparable beauty and contrast, punctuated with chateaux, vineyards and all the other aspects that make it so unique. Here are 10 good reasons to visit, to help you with ideas on how to plan and enjoy a French holiday
.

France is a landscape of incomparable beauty and contrast, punctuated with chateaux, vineyards and all the other aspects that make it so unique. It is a place with warm, friendly and welcoming people and where village life goes on much as it has done for decades. The pace of French cities may be frenetic, but is maintained with a certain panache.

Here are 10 good reasons to visit the country, to help you with your plans for a great French holiday experience.

Cities:

Paris epitomises France. It oozes Gallic spirit and charm from its iconic attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame to the street artists of Monmartre and the cafes and bars of Monparnasse. Also check out monument-filled Lyons, France's largest seaport, Marseilles, and Nice - grande dame of the Cote d'Azur.

Nightlife:

The French are night owls. They eat late and the night life often doesn't get going until many other nations would be putting up the shutters. Even shopping malls stay open until well into the night, and there are many night markets.

Food:

France's gastronomy is a national treasure. It is the standard by which all other country's cuisines are judged, culminating in the much-coveted Michelin stars for those who attain the highest levels. Even we Brits no longer joke about frog's legs as we try to beef up our own cooking. Try searching out local food markets, wherever you are.

Wine:

What better to wash down the best dishes with some of the world's best wines? Its Champagne, Burgundy and Bordeaux wines are peerless, as are the products of many other wine regions - despite growing global competition. Take a leisurely tour of a vineyard, and savour the nectar.

Art:

With the Louvre France's biggest cultural attraction, it is no surprise that the French take art to their hearts. After all, cave paintings date back to Palaeolithic times, while the Impressionism movement was initiated in France after Monet painted Le Havre in the mist.

Nature:

France has the most diverse natural environment of any country in Europe. It has six national parks, four of which are in Provence plus the Pyrenees and one in Languedoc, and 43 regional parks including the Auvergne volcanoes.

Beaches:

A coastline of 2,000 miles bordering the English Channel, Atlantic and Mediterranean means that France has beaches on three sides. While many of its most famous ones along the Cote d'Azur are actually more shingle than sand, there are long stretches of glorious, sandy beaches in Normandy and Brittany, in the Vendee, along the Aquitaine coast and in Languedoc.

History:

France's chequered history has left it positively littered with vestiges of the past, going back to Roman times. The 30-plus UNESCO-listed world heritage sites include the historic centre of Avignon with the Palace of the Popes and the bridge from the song, with other treasures including Gothic cathedrals in the north and ornate chateaux the Loire and beyond.

Shopping:

As the capital of haute couture, it goes without saying that Paris is also a shopper's heaven. Its most well-known department store is Galaries Lafayette. Head to Lille's Christmas market by Eurostar for some pre-Christmas gifts and local produce.

Touring:

France is close enough to take your own car over by ferry or the Channel Tunnel and hit the roads. Popular touring areas include Brittany, the Loire, Normandy and Provence.

Cheap flights to France from the UK are always readily available, and the country is well served with flights from all over Europe (and of course, excellent rail links), and so a holiday in France remains affordable - and always possible whether as a planned longer stayScience Articles, or an impulsive short break.

Travel to Asia: 5 Essential Preparations

Traveling to Asia can be fuss-free and enjoyable when you are prepared. Thinking through your logistics and learning a few local words can make your Asian vacation more rewarding.

Whether you are planning to go to Asia for business or pleasure, chances are you'll find the whole experience a little daunting. It can be a long way to travel, and if you have never been to a place where English is not spoken, it can be a little unnerving. However, traveling to Asia can be quite straightforward when you make sure that you are prepared.

1. Check the weather.

  • In many Asian countries, including Vietnam, Thailand, and some parts of China, you will see a wet season and a dry season. While light clothes might be appropriate in any case, sometimes remembering to pack rain gear can save your trip! This is especially true if you intend to visit different parts of a country.
  • For example, the west coast of Thailand may experience a different season from the eastern side at any one time. So if you find resplendent sunshine in Phuket, it might possibly be raining in Koh Samui. Don't be caught out.
  • 2. Use plastic.
  • When you are planning your trip, think about putting the majority of your expenses onto a credit card. This way, not only will you be able to have a paper trail of the money you have spent, you'll also find that you can stop payment if your card gets skimmed. It is also a very portable way to pay for things.
  • 3. Learn a bit of the language.
  • Even if you are only visiting for a short while, it will help you to learn some basic phrases.
  • When you try to use the language native to an area, you'll find that the people are much more likely to look on you kindly. So try to learn the basics like “please” and “thank you”. You'll also want to learn directional words like “left” and “right”, which can be quite handy for obvious reasons. The local words for numbers will also be useful if you are going to be shopping. Pick up especially phrases for bargaining and practice them at the mom-and-pop shops or night bazaars.
  • You'll be surprised how knowing a few local words may make your Asian vacation so much more enjoyable.
  • 4. Think about your e-mail.
  • If you are going to a metropolitan center, you'll probably never need to worry about finding a wireless connection. But remember that some parts of Asia still do not give you immediate access to your email. Ask your internet service provider about roaming service, where you will be able to use the local telephone lines to dial up. This is a great way to make sure you can get to what you need.
  • 5. Think about your luggage.
  • Remember that you'll be dragging your luggage behind you for the entire trip, so make sure that it will last! There are other ways to save money but invest in durable luggage. To make sure that no mistakes are made, think about personalizing your suitcase with stickers or labels. This will help ensure that no one walks off with it by mistake.
  • It is also a good idea to change the number setting if you are using combination locks. Far too many people leave the combinations set to the default 000 or change it to 123, which are not too difficult for a crook to guess. Take your time and come up with a good combination.
  • Note also that many countries in Asia scramble to call themselves the 'factory of the world', being the outsourced manufacturing centers for many multi-national companies. As suchPsychology Articles, you'll find better deals for souvenirs in Asia than you ever will in South America or Africa. So prepare for the unexpected shopping spree. Make room in your luggage for your shopping. Or take along a spare foldable bag that can be slipped into your luggage easily.
  • Putting your shopping into a carton and sealing it with cellotape is no go. Neither is using those $1 plastic cheapos you find at many Asian bazaars. You don't want to be surprised by a burst-open carton or plastic bag when your return home.
So consider these pre-trip ideas and enjoy a great Asian holiday.
